Daniel Schachter (Buenos Aires, 1953)

Compositor, artista sonoro, investigador. Miembro fundador de la RedASLA (Red de Arte Sonoro Latinoamericano), director del CEPSA Centro de Estudios y Producción Sonora y Audiovisual (CEPSA) de la Universidad Nacional de Lanús (UNLa). Distinciones: Premio de Composición Ciudad de Buenos Aires 1996/97; Premio Ars Contemporánea 1978, Premio Tribuna Nacional de Música Electroacústica (TRIME) 1994, Mencion Tribuna Nacional de Compositores (TRINAC) 1987; Compositor Invitado y por encargo en el INA.GRM, Paris (1993, 1994, 2006). Expositor central del Sonic Arts Network 2004 (De Montfort Universirty, Leicester) por beca de la Academia Británica. Ha ganado la Beca Ibermúsicas 2016 para realizar una residencia de composición en el CMMAS de México durante 2017. Presenta sus trabajos habitualmente en Festivales, Congresos y ciclos de conciertos alrededor del mundo. He won the Ibermusicas 2016 grant for a composition residence at the CMMAS, Mexico in 2017. He presents his production in Festivals, Conferences and Concert cycles worldwide. Como un mar de hierro es una obra acusmática compuesta por Daniel Schachter en 2017 a raíz de una invitación de la asociación Musiques & Recherches, Bélgica y está dedicada a la compositora argentina Beatriz Ferreyra en ocasión de su 80 cumpleaños. Se trata de una reflexión sobre la relación entre timbre y movimiento que parte de una serie de muestras de sonidos marinos que va mutando tímbricamente hacia bloques de hierro pero manteniendo la gestualidad del movimiento del mar. La pieza recorre un camino desde el universo marino hacia el del metal, para lo cual se asignaron las envolventes dinámicas del sonido de las olas del mar a las diferentes muestras de sonidos de trozos de hierro de distintos tamaños, buscando que desde el punto de vista perceptivo el reemplazo del agua por el hierro intentando trabajar siempre la dinámica y el timbre pero no la altura que permanece mas o menos estática durante toda la pieza.


Como un mar de hierro is an acousmatic piece composed by Daniel Schachter in 2017 as a result of an invitation from the Musiques & Recherches association from Belgium, and it is dedicated to the Argentinian composer Beatriz Ferreyra for her 80th birthday. The piece is a sort of reflection on the relationship between timbre and movement that starts from a series of samples of marine sounds whose timbre mutates towards the one of iron blocks but maintaining the gestures of the sea movement. The piece crosses a path from the marine universe to the one of metals, for this purpose the dynamic envelopes of the sound of the sea waves were assigned to different samples of pieces of iron, keeping in mind that from the perceptive point of view the replacement of the water by the iron always intends to work on dynamics and timbre but not the pitch that remains more or less static throughout the whole piece.
